What have I been up to? Thanks for asking… a bit of travel in the late Winter/early Spring and consequently a lot of family time now that I’ve been home. The sunshine has been spectacular.
December 9th 2011 6:30-6:45pm - The event was called Winter Wonderland held at Washington Park campground at the NW corner of Fidalgo Island over the weekend. According to one of the festivities planners Jonn Lunsford Friday night would be the night of coordinated musical encounters and Saturday more like an open hang-out.
We were hanging out, we had our own blazing fire pit to play around, a mild evening. The quartet of horns that performed these four pieces — Amadeo Vecchione sliding trombone, Mason Delutri huffing and puffing the tuba, and Chris Bartlet and myself honking alto saxophones. Mount Eerie warming up along the next campfire(28 minute forest zone recording here on my blaug).
The song here has been manipulated inspired by necessity. This tumblr format only lets one song be posted a day, so that prompted me to try and put the four songs back to back so you could hear the entire performance. So I loaded the songs into the freeware audio program a.k.a. Audacity which put them actually on top of one another so when I listened it sounded something like this. But then I move the two shorter songs to end with the other two of equal length so they all would end together and that way they enter layered and somewhat more musically. Then a little panning and voi la!
Round-The-World Song Relay Celebration: for the 24 hours of September 30th 2011 people from all over the world covered a song of mine via an mp3 or video link or they just performed the song out into the world without recording it at all. This was in celebration for the last day of the Kickstarter fundraiser for KLAPS — my auto-biographical music label.
If you click on the picture here, it should take you to the schedule, the tags to the left are the people involved in the music and video.
Thank you everyone for contributing and putting out the word, making this fundraiser such a success. I’m focusing on 12 new albums to be released on KLAPS here in the coming year.
